Services are driven by the needs of each client. Below is an abbreviated list of current activities and programs that we have. Please contact us for a more extensive explanation of the programs offered
Augmentative Alternative Communication- From low tech to high tech, we provide assessments, training and therapy for kids who benefit from augmentative
communication.
Articulation- We work on speech sound production in the office and in natural settings, during play and in the community to promote generalization and maintenance.
Assessments- Comprehensive speech and language assessments that highlight strengths and challenges. Recommendations are made to promote language development across all settings. IEP attendance as permitted by schedule.
Auditory Processing Disorders- Programs are created to help kids organize and process verbal information.
Cooking Classes- Cooking provides a wonderful opportunity to promote engagement, language and communication into a functional activity. It is a naturally structured activity with a consistent reward in the end. It is a great way to incorporate siblings and/or typical peers for an afternoon of fun together! We use visual recipes and schedules to increase independence and social skills.
Community Outings- The local community of downtown San Mateo offers a wealth of opportunities for social communication and language development. Individuals are supported as they go grocery shopping, visit the toy store or stop by Yummy Yogurt for a treat.
Consulting Services- Need help understanding how to promote more language and communication at home, in your ABA programs or at school? We have several different packages that include observation, coaching, recommendations and materials.
Early Intervention Services-We identify, diagnose and treat communication disorders in individuals ages 2 and up who are at risk. Services are designed to develop language and communication skills in children with, or at risk for speech and language disorders. Parent involvement and training provides a framework to create language enriched environments throughout the day.
Language Disorders/Delay- For kids who have difficulty with verbal expression, therapy is designed to assess their current level of developmental language functioning and build an individualized program that will promote their development.
Parent Training- Training created to bring out the speech therapist in every parent. Information to guide language development and promote social communication. We put great value in the one to one therapist time. However, to maximize our efforts parental involvement is critical. We provide on-site and community training.
Photography Classes This class is offered for kids of all ages and differing abilities. It's amazing to have a glimpse of what their world is like. Geared with an SLR camera, we can go out to the community, for a walk or any other interesting place and take pictures. We immediately head back and create a power point presentation based on their pictures.
Social Skills Training Social skills are incorporate into all sessions; however these sessions are driven primarily by the social side of language. Exposing and explaining the 'hidden curriculum' through: video modeling, role play, theme based parties and review.
